A young M presented with swelling at the base of his thumb. He had a laceration repaired several days prior and had arrived at the plastic surgery clinic for suture removal. He was promptly sent to the ED for further management. No erythema, warmth, purulent drainage, or fevers.
Concerned for a hematoma, Danielle performed a POCUS skin and soft tissue exam demonstrating an anechoic fluid collection.
Plastics requested a radiology performed ultrasound over the phone, but when they saw Danielle's images, they commented that the pictures were great and the hematoma was promptly drained.
Well done Danielle!
